Presets & "Memory"
This tutorial explains how to use presets on MAINFRAME-B to save and recall parameter configurations for each zone. Presets allow you to quickly switch between different visual looks during live performance or composition without manually adjusting parameters in real time.
MAINFRAME-B includes 8 preset slots per zone. Each preset stores the full parameter state of the zone, including modulated and static values. Presets are saved directly on the device and can be recalled using the onboard interface or via MIDI program change.
Saving a preset:
- Enter the preset menu by pressing Function + Zone for the active zone
- If the modulation LEDs are flashing red, a change has been made since the last save
- Press Mod to save the current state into the selected preset slot
- Rotate the parameter knob to select a different preset slot, then press Parameter to confirm
Copying a preset to a new slot:
- In the preset menu, press Function + Parameter to copy the current preset
- Use the encoder to select a new destination slot
- Press Parameter again to save to the new slot
Sending a preset via MIDI:
- Press Function + Mod to send the current preset’s parameter values as MIDI CC messages
- These can be captured in a DAW or MIDI sequencer for storage or automation
Assigning presets to MIDI clips:
- Use MIDI program change messages to recall specific preset slots during playback
- Each preset contains zone-specific parameters only; the MIDI channel is a global setting per zone and is not stored in the preset
Visual feedback:
- Each preset slot is color-coded and shown on the underglow LEDs
- A blue parameter LED indicates that the last value came from MIDI CC
Use presets as building blocks for performances, starting points for compositions, or a way to develop a personal library of visual styles as you evolve your use of MAINFRAME-B.
